Research: Part 2/5 - Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo, a Mexican artist, is one of the most popular artists in the 1900's. She is mostly known for her amazing self portraits. Frida lived in Coyoacán, a small Mexican city. Having Polio, her right leg was thinner than her left leg, leaving her to wear long colorful skirts. She also practiced boxing during her life before the accident

On September 17, 1925, Kahlo had a bus accident which affected her spinal cord and left her in a lot of pain for the rest of her life. This accident left her alone for long periods of time. As a result she began painting self portrait in various places. She described herself as lonely and knowing herself the most. Kahlo created at least 140 paintings, along with dozens of drawings and studies .In 1938, Kahlo had her first and only solo gallery showing in the United States. She, however, was not recognized until decades after her death.

Her arts used bright colors, dramatic symbolism and primitive style. She also included a lot of symbols such as monkeys and nature. Some of the painting are connected with lust as a symbol. Frida went after to Paris, where she sold The Frame to the Louvre. July 13, 1954, soon after turning 47, Frida died, days after writing "I hope the exit is joyful — and I hope never to return — Frida."

Project 6 - Our future

Project 6 Critique Form

What ideas did you incorporate into the piece?

In incorporated the idea of how humans will be in the future. With the concept of corrupt society, the future is horrible and broken with no rights.

Do you think the piece is successful? Why or why not?

Yes, I did all the necessary scenes and edits to make the video understandable.

What skills did you learn through working on this piece? How did you employ these
skills in your work?

I didn't necessarily learn that much because everything I did I already knew how to do.

What challenges did you face?

I faced the challenge of placing the sound effects at the exact point they are supposed to be.

Did you find a suitable resolution—if yes, what? If no, what would you change?

Yes, I think that the video includes all the necessary components, especially the special effects.

What revisions would your make if you were to do the work a second time?

I would make more explosions and plot to make it more awesome.

Project 4 Critique Form

What ideas did you incorporate into the piece?

I incorporated the idea of a person who volunteered to be a nurse in Africa to help with Ebola. However when the person goes there, he gets infected. Therefore he is brought back to the US and is miraculously cured. After arriving home, the state tells him that he is not allowed to leave for 21 days just in case for a mistake with the doctor's results.

Do you think the piece is successful? Why or why not?
Yes, it shows the whole story clearly. I think that everyone could understand it.

What skills did you learn through working on this piece? How did you employ these
skills in your work?

I learned Photoshop and batching pictures. I also learned how to do a timeline with a frame-rate.

What challenges did you face?
The batching process took a while because I did not save while recording. Also the frame rate was off a little because I forgot to click add sequence.

- Did you find a suitable resolution—if yes, what? If no, what would you change?

Yes I found one by going online to check the problem. It was the batching.

What revisions would your make if you were to do the work a second time?
I would add more pictures in order to make a better frame rate for the video.
